Country Birthday Party #1

Today we attended a birthday party that our neighbor's wife, Cathy, threw for his (Mike's) 55th birthday. It was held at the recently renovated Clinch River Conservation Center & Retreat- actually, an old farmhouse added onto, located about three miles from our house. The retreat center is spacious; it has NINE bathrooms and SEVEN bedrooms, and a kitchen, dining room, meeting room. The rooms are rented out at affordable prices (the website is www.clinchriverecotourism.com), so if you're ever in this area and need a place to stay, keep it in mind! The party was loads of fun and we met a lot of wonderful people. They even had a bluegrass band - East Kentucky Tyme - playing in the living room. Then it began to snow and some of the attendees, coming from farther south, do not get to enjoy snow very often, so they had a blast throwing snowballs at each other. I have some pictures to share from the party and I'll post them in several entries. Here are some pics of Mike, the birthday boy, and his wife Cathy, and pics of the retreat center where the party was held.
