Khan

Khan is our neighbor's black Lab. He is full-blooded. He is six months old and 60+ pounds. He'll be huge when he grows up. His owners let him run around and sometimes he follows us home when we are on our walks. In order to keep him from going into our woods and getting lost or hurt (he was a very expensive dog), we tie him and then take him home a little while later when we get the chance. Today he was content (for awhile) with a bone we gave him.

  1. Hi Aleta, Wow---I love the area where you live. I grew up in Southwest VA in Big Stone Gap. Ever been there????? In July, we drove from Big Stone Gap down through Lee County --south through Sneedville, visited Elrod Falls, and headed on to Morristown. What a gorgeous area of TN... Thanks for visiting my blog. Sounds like you have the perfect life. We're in Fairfield Glade--north of Crossville. It's pretty here too..

How did you find Kyles Ford??? Were either of you from that area originally??? NEAT!!!! Thanks for visiting my blog. Let's keep in touch!!!

  5. Hi, Betsy - Yes, we were in BSG a few years back, trying to get a rental car. It is a beautiful area! My vet is in Duffield, which is fairly close to BSG. We haven't been to where you live now that I can recall but we have been to High Knob. Isn't that near you? We are from up north - me from PA and he from upstate NY - but we moved here from MD. We retired and decided TN has the four seasons, reasonable real estate (we looked all summer in 2004 and finally got our place in Sep.) and no income tax! We love it here. We don't get as much snow as we'd like. I'll post some pics of this morning's snow which is still falling as I write.

  6. Phyllis, yes Khan is beautiful but remains untrained. He is also chasing cars. We don't have much traffic back here, as you know, but he chases our vehicle when we go up to visit them. We just pray he doesn't get under a wheel.

  7. Aleta, he is so beautiful. How sad that his people don't haven't trained him. A pure bred dog is expensive and you'd think they'd want to protect their investment, not to mention what a gorgeous creature he is. And labs are so sweet.

It is so tragic when a dog is hit by a car of injured by a wild animal. I wonder why people don't use common sense.

  8. We try to put our "two sense" in when it comes to the dog(s), but they seem to think it is too much trouble to train them. There are other dogs besides this one and none of them are trained. Maybe I'll get some pics of the others to post.

  9. Aleta, Duffield is not far from BSG at all. And neither is High Knob... Glad you like TN.. We love it too!!!!! My father's people all lived in Lee County, VA---and I would love to live there in those mountains. Are you in the valley or up on a mountain? I know that area has both.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  10. Lee County is right on the other side of our ridge! Our house is in a "holler" that is at 1400 feet elevation and the ridges around our property are 2000 feet. So we are a little high but not up on a mountain, but we're not in a valley either.
