Eastern Tiger Swallowtails
I've been taking a lot of pictures this year of eastern tiger swallowtails. I find it fascinating that the female can have both a light and a dark form.
A few days ago I was pleasantly surprised to find dozens of these winged beauties enjoying my sunflowers!
Either a zinnia or a cosmos; I planted them both together. Next year I'm planting a bunch of flowers all over the place - zinnias, cosmos, poppies, sunflowers, whatever I can find, maybe a wildflower mix. They turned out nice alongside our steps going down to the basement, but I didn't plant enough of them.
Rabbits cookin' coffee -- that's what the locals call it. But here in this little hollow in East Tennessee, when the hills surrender their misty hostage to reveal the stalwart cedars growing by the stream in our pasture, I know there is no place on earth I would rather be. The welcome mat is out! Come and sit on the porch and chat with me awhile!
Beautiful! What is the last flower? phyllis
